How much Drontal Plus should I give my 7kg puppy for tapeworms?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 27 lbs

Puppy weight is 7 kg. She is 2.5month old. She has ticks in her, so Im worried about tapeworm, that's why I'm giving drontal plus tablet with praziquantel to kill tapeworm. How much tablet should I give? Tablet says 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight. Please use kg instead of lbs.

Drontal is a very safe deworming tablet, so I would give Tofy one table. Doses of up to 10 times the recommended dose will usually only cause some nausea, so giving her a little bit extra will not likely result in any harm. I hope this helps!

Hi there. Yes, you should be able to deworm your puppies at home if you want to. Drontal Plus is approved for use in puppies at least 3 weeks of age and weighing at least 2 pounds - so if your pups are 9 weeks old and weigh 1.2 kg (approximately 2.6 pounds), it should be fine to use. Follow the dosing instructions on the medication label. A 2.6 pound puppy should get 1/2 of a tablet, according to the label instructions.

You can use the Drontal Plus to deworm him now. It is an excellent deworming tablet and you only have to give him one tablet now. You should given him another deworming tablet in a month, and then he should be dewormed every three months thereafter.

Drontal Plus is extremely effective for treating tapeworms. However, I am concerned that if he vomited soon after giving the medication, there is a chance it did not absorb. I recommend that you call your veterinarian for a second dose - it will be safe to re-dose - just to be on the safe side! Next time give it at meal time so there is a lot of food in his stomach as this makes it less likely he will vomit the pill.

The reason for the second deworming 3 weeks later is to kill any tapeworms that were still immature at the last deworming and were not yet sensitive to the dewormer or if she has gotten infected again since the last deworming. Drontal is a very safe medication with very few side effects since it only affects the parasites in the GI tract. The dewormer i usually recommend is called Drontal plus, bear in mind that unlike the flea/tick products, dewormers do not protect your dog from future infestation, it only kills the worms on spot. for fleas and ticks i usually recommend Bravecto tablet or Advantix spot on. all these medications are considered to be high quality and safe.

Drontal Plus is supposed to be for dogs. what if i give Drontal Plus to my cat? Merrill (my cat) has Revolution and Drontal then she isn't protected from whipworms as she would be with Drontal Plus?
Drontal, either Plus or without, is only for removal of worms after your pet has contracted them, it does not prevent them from getting them. If your pet is at risk of picking them up, because they're outside or hunting, then a regular dose can be helpful. The 22.7 mg Drontal plus is labeled for both dogs and cats.

Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear about Remy's troubles! However, w To better answer your question, it would be ideal to know which deworming pill was administered, and how many milligrams! Knowing that information will help one of us let you know for sure if it's an issue or not! However... praziquantel is usually prescribed for tapeworms, and sold often in 34mg tablets. Hello, this medication is generally very well tolerated by our patients. Very rarely, this medication may cause some vomiting, diarrhea or decreased appetite. Otherwise, he should not have any side effects from this deworming. Hope this helps and best of luck.

None of the products you have administered will treat for tapeworms. Tapeworms need to be treated with a special dewormer called Praziquantel. You can give it now. Hi, it is fine to give the two tablets together as a single dose. The dose is accurate for a 20 kg dog, how often your repeat it will depend on how frequently he comes in contact with parasites. If there are lots of worms in the environment, he could be wormed every 3 months but I would double check with your vet. Hope this helps !
