Dog just got Frontline. Can she play with other dogs? Is stress-vomiting normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 14 days old | 7.28 lbs

I just applied Frontline to my dog. The 1rontline FAQ states that you shouldn't bathe the dog for 2 days after application, but can I just go about the usual walking and feeding and brushing in case she plays with other dogs (should I let her play with other dogs?)Also, before application, the threw up a bit of white phlegm. I think because it was while I was grooming her and she hates that, and she was lying upside down both times. Maybe it was just stress? She's acting and playing normally.

It's fine to walk and Mozzarella (I love her name!), but I would avoid brushing her for the next 24-48 hours. She can play with other dogs. If she's hates being groomed, then possibly the stress of it caused her to throw up a little phlegm. Given that she is acting and playing normally, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If she continues vomiting or develops other signs such as anorexia, lethargy, and/or diarrhea, then I would be concerned and have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps, best of luck!

it may be a reaction to the medicine. The best thing to do is bathe him in dawn dish washing liquid to strip the medicine and oils from his coat and skin. One drop from the dog's vial of Frontline shouldn't be a problem. The concentration is often the same, just the volume applied is more for a dog. Keep an eye on her just to be safe but she's probably fine. If she does show any signs of sickness, refusal to eat or drink, lethargy, drooling, vomiting, etc., get her in to your vet or an emergency clinic right away.

My ragdoll vomit after he eat his food, today is his 4th day of vomiting after he eat, and he seems pretty normal cause he plays and run like he was everyday. This happened after 2nd day of lice treatment with frontline spray. What should i do?
It sounds as Gab is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

How long after we start flea treatment on our dog can he be around other dogs?
I would say after 24 hours, Leo should be fine to see other dogs. Depending on what product you used, efficacy rates can vary. The best products are oral products such as Comfortis, Simparica or Trifexis. Some over the counter products don't work well at all. So there is variability in how well it will work. After 24hours any product you used will be in his system and any topical products dried. Please post again with any further questions.

Hi, my mothers 11 month old Boston terrier has been vomiting since 1 am today. She hasn't had anything new to eat. She did just get flea medication (front line plus) put on yesterday. Would that cause her to vomit? Any help is appreciated! Thank you
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. With this much vomiting I would be worried about the possibility of Penelope eating something she shouldn't have, such as a toy or other foreign material, which could have caused a blockage or obstruction of her intestines. The topical flea and tick medication should not cause her to vomit. I recommend offering Penelope a small amount of boiled chicken and rice, and see if she tolerates this. If she vomits this up and/or cannot even keep water down, she should be seen by your veterinarian for x-rays. If she can eat a small amount of this bland diet, I recommend feeding this boiled chicken and rice for the next 2-3 days and slowly transitioning her back to her usual diet. I hope this is helpful!

My dog is acting very lethargic. The only change in her routine is that I put a dose of Frontline Plus on her back two days ago. Is this cause for concern?
Lethargy is a very general sign of illness in dogs, and can be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Lethargy isn't a side effect of Frontline, so I'm suspecting that it may be to to a medical illness. As long as Scout is eating and drinking normally as well as going to the bathroom normally, I would keep an eye on her for now. Should she still be lethargic in 48 hours, then I would be concerned and take her into the vet for an exam. If she stops eating and drinking, and develops other signs such as vomiting or diarrhea, then I would take her into a vet right away. I hope this helps!

It's common for puppies and adult dogs to throw-up when they eat something that doesn't agree with their stomach. This can also happen when they exercise just after eating. I wouldn't be concerned unless she vomits three or more times, has any other signs of illness, or you notice blood in the vomit. Otherwise, she should be fine. Give her stomach a rest for four or more hours and only feed a small amount at her next feeding. If she keeps that down, then you can feed her the normal amount of her food. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Fiona. She is unlikely vomiting from the Trifexis if she hasn't in the past. That is a small dose change for her. There are numerous causes of vomiting such as dietary indiscretion, an infection, stress or something more serious such as eating a foreign object. If she still refuses to eat or cannot keep food or water down, then she will need to see a veterinarian today. Being such a small breed dog, it is easy for her to become dehydrated. If she seems to be feeling better, give her small frequent amounts of water and food throughout the day today. I hope this information helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If there is no further vomiting then she should be ok as this may be an isolated episode. However, if this continues, she should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. In the meantime, you may feed her a bland diet composed of boiled chicken breast and white rice which help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!
