Puppy sneezing: Is it from deworming, new food, or sickness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 25 days old | 4.2 lbs

my puppy has been sneezing for a couple days now (it started monday i think, once his poop became more solid thanks to his chicken and rice diet). i just finished the second part of his deworming treatment yesterday and started feeding him dry dog food. his snot seems less compared to how he was on Monday but it still seems a lot for a dog his age and size. i was just wondering is he's sick or if his medicine and diet is causing the sneezing. it's a bit cold where we live but i keep them warm.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Momo. The deworming medication and diet change should not result in sneezing in a puppy. He should be seen by his veterinarian to see if he has a respiratory infection causing the sneezing and nasal discharge. In the meantime, be sure to encourage him to eat and drink. He is so tiny, I do not want him to become dehydrated. Good luck!
