My 20 lb bichon, terrier, maltese dog ate a strip of cooked chicken that was lying in the dirt of a little garden area! I don't know how long it was out there, but I remember seeing it yesterday. It looked like one of those pre-cooked grilled chicken strips. Is there anything I can do for him so he won't get ill? How long would it take symptoms to show up? He is on Apoquel 3.6mg daily for his skin allergies, in case that would interfer with any recommended treatment. Thank you.

Hello. If Sampson does not show any signs of vomiting or diarrhea in the next 24-36 hours he will be fine. Dogs eat nasty things all the time, Sometimes it does make them ill, but most times nothing comes of it. Having allergies & being on Apoquel should not change things either way. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
