Why is my cat bleeding around her rear end but not in her litter?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year old | 8.2 lbs

I woke up and noticed that Luna has blood on her tail by her anus. I checked her litterbox and didn't see any blood. What's going on?

She may have an anal sac abscess, or she could have a little bit of colitis and she just hasn’t had a bowel movement for you to see the full effect of what is going on. Look all around her rear end for any wounds . If it continues then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian soon. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
