Can I combine a flea collar with oral flea medicine for my dog?

I don't recommend it. Typically you do not need to combine multiple flea and tick medications to control these parasites, one flea and tick medication is enough. In addition, too much can cause a toxic reaction. I also personally do not like flea and tick collars, they aren't very effective and can cause skin reactions. I hope this helps!

Most oral flea preventatives are safe to give along with topicals, but it would help to know exactly what the oral medication was and when medications were given. You may want to ask your veterinarian what flea product they would recommend in your area - in some areas fleas could be resistant to the medications. Are flea collars useful? I have a cheap one $5 Adams brand but I wonder if it's worth $52 for a name brand one. Dog recently had fleas and switched to Advantix from PetArmor but wondering if the extra step is necessary?
The Seresto flea/tick collar is the only one on the market that is safe and effective - the others, including Adams, are often dangerously toxic for the dog and not effective at all for fleas in my experience. Advantix is definitely a better choice than PetArmor, but the most effective option available for fleas and ticks currently would be an oral medication like Nexgard or Bravecto. I would recommend getting a prescription from your veterinarian for one of these medications, if possible - this will eliminate the need for any topical medication or flea collars, and will also work much better.

I was wondering is it okay to use bravecto oral and seresto flea collar as flea and tick prevention.
You could use both if you wanted to, as these two products work in different ways and do not have any harmful interactions. But, using both would be unnecessary - they both cover fleas and ticks. Because of this, I would recommend using one or other other, rather than both.

Can u use advantage II and a seresto collar on extra large dog at same time
It would not be recommended to do this, as a Seresto collar and Advantage II have the same active ingredients - so you would essentially be giving your dog a double dose of medication, which may not be safe. It shouldn't be necessary to use two different flea control medications as long as you are using an appropriate size/dose for your dog's weight. If you are already using one of these products and are finding that it is not effective, I would recommend switching to a different flea medication entirely, such as Nexgard or Bravecto - these are both much more effective in my experience.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I do not recommend combining Hartz products. It is a notoriously known company to cause side effects. I would change brands once the collar expires. I recommend the Seresto collar or the oral formulations for ticks (Nexgard, Simparica or Bravecto). Have a good day!

1. You don't need to give Daisy a flea bath before giving her the Advantix. You can give her the Advantix now. I don't recommend flea baths because they don't work well and can be very irritating to the skin. 2. You do not need to use the Advantix with the Sentry flea collar. Using Sentry (which contains fipronil) and Advantix together should be done with caution, as they have not be approved by the manufacturers for use together. The Advantix alone is enough protection. 3. You can give Daisy Capster with the Advantix. It's a one time pill that stars killing fleas in 30 minutes, and is safe to use anytime. That's the only oral medication I woken recommend to use in combination with the Advantix. Don't forget to disinfect the environment as well. Wash Daisy's bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a flea spray in the home such as Indorex, or you may need to flea bomb the house to kill the fleas. Yes you will not likely have any problems using both. The more baths you give the shorter the collar will work also. You might want to look into Bravecto, a 3 month pill for fleas and ticks that is working well

Hello! You should be able to use both Frontline and either a Preventic or Seresto collar, but only one collar. There should not be any interactions between any of the medications. I think using two preventives for hiking in the northeastern US is an excellent idea to prevent ticks and tick borne disease. I would also recommend looking into getting Winston vaccinated for Lyme disease as an additional precaution. I hope this is helpful! We are giving our 40 pound beagle the sentinel spectrum, it's for heartworm, fleas and says treats and controls tapeworms, whip,round and hook worms. It is a chewable. Is it to much to also put a seresto 8 month collar on him also? Is it necessary?
It is certainly not too much to use a Seresto collar with Sentinel! In my experience, Sentinel alone is not sufficient for proper flea control, but is great for heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention. The Seresto collar will prevent ticks and fleas, which is quite important. To answer your question, yes, use both! :-)
