My dog has a minor cut. What should I do to prevent infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 48 lbs

My dog got a minor cut on the inside of his back leg it is not bleeding and just looks like some skin is missing. It doesn’t appear to be bothering him. I am just wondering if I need to get anything to apply to it to prevent infection or just let it heal naturally

This does appear to be a minor abrasion. You can flush the area with cool water once a day for 1-2 minutes to help prevent infection. Otherwise, this should heal fine on it's own and I would not recommend putting any ointments or antiseptics on it. I hope that helps and all is well with Bronson.
