Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 65 lbs

I barely touch the back part of my dogs butt and legs and he screams he can go downstairs and walks fine, eats, drinks, and uses the bathroom fine but has a hard time going upstairs. When he lays down and tries to get up he cries or if u help him move with the blank he cries but if he is laying down you can touch his back are and legs without him crying.

This could be from a tail injury, or back pain. Generally with arthritis they don’t cry out in pain. I’d give him a few days to see if this gets better on its own, then if he’s still that painful I recommend a veterinary exam and pain medication. They will feel his back and joints, check his tail for injury and may recommend X-rays to diagnosis the problem.
