It appears that poor Oreo is having some sort of intestinal problem. This is often due to an infection or parasites, but can indicate other disorders of the digestive system. Loose stools are not too concerning, but a dog that stops eating is. Dogs usually have to feel rather bad to stop eating. Considering this, it's best to have Oreo seen by a vet in the next 24 hours. It's difficult to know how concerning this is without seeing him, but if he's otherwise acting normal, then I would not be too worried. It's best to just get him checked. The vet will be able to help narrow-down the cause of this and give medication to make him feel better. If you have further questions or need further clarification, then you may consider having an online consult with one of our vets on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This way, you can send unlimited pictures and have a text conversation with a vet. I hope that helps and Oreo feels better soon.

Poor Oreo! The problem with diseases is that many diseases look the same clinically, just like in humans. Weight-loss is concerning for kidney disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, poor nutrition, heavy parasite infestation or cancer. Diarrhea can be seen with all of the above list of conditions and pets will often develop a poor hair coat with all of the above list of conditions. Oreo needs to see his veterinarian for physical exam and blood work to start figuring out what is wrong. The doctor may find out right away what the problem is or they may need to move on to other diagnostics. Until you know the cause, you cannot treat correctly. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I'm glad that Oreo is still feeling normal and eating and drinking. If this has continued, please take her to your vet. Take a stool sample with you, as your vet may want to check for parasites. You can try a probiotic at home; if she has a little bit of colitis (inflammation in her colon), this may help. Thanks for asking PetCoach!
