How long after Osurnia ear gel can my dog safely get an allergy test?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 23 lbs

Hi my dog Buddy a French bull dog was taken to the vets for a ear yeast infection. We agreed in fairness to him it would be better for the vet to do the course of Osurnia Gel. He had the first one on 05/03/18 in both ears and the second dose on 12/03/18. My question is how long will this remain in his system for as we have a mouth swab allergy test that we cannot use if Buddy has had any antihistamines or steroids and being a Frenchie he is very sensitive to things and we would like to know what

Osurina is long acting ear medication. The second does will remain in there for about a month. However, because it is just a topical, it should not interfere with your test if you wait 2 weeks after the last application. Any medication given by mouth or any steriod injections will typically need 4-6 weeks after the last one before proceeding with the test
