My dog is in pain and crying when pooping. Vet is booked. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Papillon | Male | unneutered | 8 years and 4 months old | 10 lbs

My dog is having problems with having bowl movements without crying. We can’t get an appointment with our vet for over a month away. Do you have any suggestions to help him? We’ve switched his food to soft food and it isn’t helping with the pain.

I am so sorry to hear that Brody is so painful. I think you may need to call again and tell them that he is very painful and needs to be seen. If you can not be seen there you may need to choose another veterinary practice to be seen. Perianal fistula or a tumor are my biggest concerns. Best of luck and I hope he is able to be seen soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
