My cat has an ear infection. How to give her medicine alone?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 9 months old | 10 lbs

I have med for my cats ear infection but she won't let me near her. I was able to get it in a few times but it was so so hard. I was also given pills to calm her down but even disguised she will not eat it. I have the calming spray which makes her happy but she still runs. I need another way to help her. She is 4yrs old and I need something that brings her close to full sedation or I will not be able to help her. I have no one else to help hold her down. I don't want this infection to get worst.

Hi. I am sorry miss jewels has an ear infection. If you are unable to Medicare topically in to the ears, you can discuss with your veterinarian doing all oral treatment instead of topical. Oral antibiotics if bacterial, and antifungal if it's a yeast infection. If it is painful, you can get a pain medication as well. They can give you some pointers on giving oral medications and restraining w one person. Also, try pill pockets. They are soft treats with a hole for the pill. Then the hole squeezes closed. I hope this helps. Good luck.
