Why is my dog having bloody diarrhea for 3 days but acting normal?

My dog has been having bloody diarrhea for 3 days i dont know what it could be from. He act normal plays eats drinks.

There could be a couple of reasons why Odin is having bloody diarrhea. He could have intestinal worms, may have a foreign body, could have GI ulcers, could have eaten something rotten, or could be suffering from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. If he's on any medications, it could also cause the bloody diarrhea. Even though he's acting normally, I would get him into a vet as soon as possible. It's normal to for a dog to have bloody diarrhea, and to have it for three days is a long time. It's very important to have this checked out as soon as possible so he can be treated. The diarrhea could be irritating Odin's GI tract, leading to the bleeding. The bland diet of chicken and rice is a good idea. Feed it in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, there is still blood in his feces on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Odin. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian today as it does appear to be blood in his stool. When bleeding occurs, it allows bacteria from the colon access to the bloodstream. This can make the dog very I'll. He will need fecal testing to testing to start. If he is vomiting, then bloodwork and x-rays of his belly may be needed. Based on these results, he will likely be prescribed medication and may be given fluids if he is found to be dehydrated. In the meantime, continue to offer him water, but do not give any food until he is seen today. This will help to rest his GI tract and can slow down the diarrhea. I hope this information helps!

Blood in the stool, even if it seems to "go away" and come back later, is never normal. The fact that it's accompanied by diarrhea suggests colitis, or inflammation of the colon, as opposed to some type of bleeding mass in the rectum or colon. Colitis can have a number of causes, including dietary indiscretion (eating something rotten or non-food), parasites, food allergies/food sensitivities, inflammatory bowel disease, or infection. Leah may improve with a diet change, perhaps a more digestible diet specifically for gastrointestinal problems. To assume it's a "tummy issue" could be to ignore causes that are treatable, and at this point she's not only having diarrhea but she also lost her appetite. It's been three days and she's not improving, so I recommend having her seen by her vet for labwork to include parasite testing, blood work, and urinalysis for starters. If all is normal consider a bland diet (as recommended above), and a probiotic supplement. Ultimately, she may need to ha

If he is acting normal then you can withhold food for 12 hours and then offer him a small amount of a bland diet, like boiled chicken and white rice, and see how he does with that. You could also add a probiotic to his food. If the diarrhea continues, he starts vomiting, and/or becomes lethargic then he needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. He could have an infection, parasite, colitis, HGE, etc. and your vet can run lab-work to help diagnose and treat. Hope he feels better soon!

Yes, I would be concerned about the blood in Diesel's feces as it's not normal. It could be that he is suffering from colitis, which is an inflammation of the colon and large intestine, and that could cause the blood in his feces. There could also be other serious causes such as a foreign body, trauma to the GI tract, or GI tumors. Given that he is eating and drinking, as well as behaving normally, you don't need to rush him into the vet right away but I would recommend having him seen by a vet in the morning if he's still having bloody diarrhea.

Anytime there is blood in the stool it is recommended to see a vet. The fact he is eating and drinking normally and playful is a very good sign it is not any serious. It may all be from the food as some need a different ingredient or different brand as they can digest it better. Your vet will check for parasites and an infection to make sure everything else is ok

Oh no, poor Murphy! This bloody diarrhea could be due to intestinal worms, GI ulcers, trauma to the GI tract, a foreign body, eating something toxic, or hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. It's quite concerning that he has been having diarrhea for over a week and there has been blood present in it frequently. Murphy has to see a vet now for this. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

It sounds as gimmly is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

The blood in his diarrhea could be due to irritation of the GI tract since he's had diarrhea for three days. As long as he is eating without vomiting, isn't lethargic, and is drinking water, you can wait until the morning to have him see a vet. Now if he starts vomiting, becomes lethargic, the amount of blood in his diarrhea increases, he stops eating, and/or he stops drinking, then I would take him into an ER vet. It sounds like Dasher is suffering from gastroenteritis. Some of the more common causes of gastroenteritis include intestinal parasites, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach wall), pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, or a foreign body/blockage. Since Dasher has been sick for so many days I would recommend taking him to the vet. He may be dehydrated and need fluids as well as some antinausea medication to get him to eat and some antibiotics to help clear up the diarrhea.
