Why is my cat suddenly hiding, not eating, and pupils dilated?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

Cat is docile and laying under sofa. Not eating. Lifted sofa and he has been sitting up for 20 minutes without movement. Picked him up and pupils dilated in frustration. He never acts like this.

Poor Sushi! This could be caused from pain, fear, or even from certain toxins or medications. Since he isn't eating and his pupils are dilated, I would strongly consider having your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to do blood work on him to determine if there is any type of toxin involved and also be able to get him started on fluids or pain meds if needed. I hope this helps!
