Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 11.2 lbs
Whenever I leave my jack russel alone at home, he barks constantly from the second I walk out the front door til I walk back in. The longest he is ever left is 4 hours but he barks and howls that whole time. It is getting so bad that it seems he is developing breathing problems or maybe its just a saw throat, but he makes a lot of noises when breathing after im back. I would like to know if theres anything i can do to stop him from baking when alone and what is wrong with his breathing.

As far as the breathing is concerned I really feel that he should have an examination from your veterinarian. There can be many problems that can cause changes . I would encourage you to video his breathing events and take that with you to your appointment. It also sounds like he is having separation anxiety. Exercise, behavior modification, and often times anti anxiety medications are needed to help in these situations. A veterinarian can talk to you about pros and concerns of medication and determine if this is an appropriate choice at this time. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
