Yes, raisins and grapes are both toxic to mice. Ingestion can cause acute kidney injury (AKI). The mechanism of how grapes and raisins cause AKI is unknown. There are several suspected hypotheses: * inability to metabolize certain components of the fruit (ie: tannins, high monosaccharide content) * there may be mycotoxins or pesticide residues on the fruit that is the issue and not the actual fruit itself * the presence of salicylate-like chemicals within the grape or raisin It is best to steer clear of feeding either of these to your mice.
