Lovebird died with blood in beak. Is it contagious to my other bird?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 0.3 lbs

My Lovebird just passed away, she had bald spots and discolored feathers when we found her. She seemed fine before hand and was just a little stressed since we got her from a friend who couldn't take care of her and so she would overgroom occasionally. We found her with blood in her beak and I want to know what it could be and if it would affect the other Lovebird, her brother, that she was kept with.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's impossible to know what she dies from based on these symptoms, the only way to know the cause of death is to send her body to the lab for histopathology analysis (through your vet), they will usually be able to tell you what the cause of death was.
