Dog vomiting, eating grass, but seems fine. When to call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 9 months old | 18 lbs

Dog first vomited last night 8pm. Then ate and drank dinner fine. 530am woke up vomiting. Took her outside and she peed and pooped solid. Then she vomited again at 6am. Now when we go inside she wants to go back out and when i take her she just eats grass. No white gums. Not nostalgic, wet nose. Still waging tail

I am sorry to hear that Miley isn’t feeling well. Eating grass can be a sign of nausea. I would prevent her from doing that. If the vomiting continues then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian. If she doesn’t vomit the rest of the day you can consider giving her a small amount of boiled chicken and rice for dinner . If she won’t eat or if she vomits dinner then she needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian soon. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
