Is Nexgard causing my puppy's vomiting, diarrhea, shaking, lethargy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 13 days old | 35 lbs

Could Nexgaurd cause vomiting, diarrhea shakiness frequent urination and lethargicness? I gave my 6 month old puppy weighing 30 pounds a tablet the vet gave me and the next day these symptoms started. Could Nexgaurd be the cause. If yes is there anything to counteract the pill? How long does it last in there system? I've read so many awful reviews. Why do vets promote it.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Blitz! It is possible that it is from the Nexgard. There isn’t a specific medication to counteract the effects, just supportive care. I would contact your vet so they can report the reaction to the company. Sadly, as with any medication, there is potential for negative side effects with Bexgard. It is generally very well tolerated and it is very effective. Vomiting and diarrhea are reported side effects in the drug insert provided by the company. I have never heard of frequent ruination. It sounds like Blitz should have a recheck to make sure he is stable and to provide supportive medications for his symptoms. I wish you both the best!
