Puppy seizures: How often can I give diazepam with phenobarbital?

hi, my 11 month old puppy has seizures, has been on phenobarbital now for two months , she started having clusters, they gave me diazepam 5 mg how often can i give it to her and can i give them both together at same time, they said no more than three in a twenty four hour period, but after four hours she is seizing again

They can be given together but often not needed due to how they work. Phenobarbital is given to prevent seizures while diazepam is giving to stop a seizure. It does no good to administer diazepam unless there is a seizure going on. Diazepam is very short acting so it can be repeated within 5 minutes in severe cases. I would not repeated it more than 2-3 times in a row If she is still having seizures despite these medicines then she needs to be seen whether your regular vet or an ER clinic nearby. They can provide injectable seizure medication and possibly add or change to a different at home pill to control further problems.
