Science diet and Purina have very good cat formulas for cats. I would find one that is appropriate for your cats age and health status. For example, they make a hairball formula if that is problem or an over weight formula if weight loss is needed there is no benefit of feeding dry over canned, so it is personal preference for that.

    As a general rule of thumb, I tend to recommend Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan and Royal Canin diets. These companies thoroughly analyze the nutrient profiles of their foods, perform controlled clinical studies and source their ingredients well. As for Gracie's canned foods, consider microwaving the refrigerated portions for a few seconds to see if this may tempt him to eat any "leftovers".

The best food with the most research are typically science diet, Purina or royal canin. You can find any formula that is made for young, adult cats to share. They make an optimal care or indoor adult made for young adults

Do not combine foods, this causes GI upset. Brands of food I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina Pro Plan, and Iams. I recommend these foods because they run their own feeding trials, meet AAFCO standards, and have veterinary nutritionists on staff. They are the only four brands to do this. I think an indoor cat formula would be best for Storm. As for water, get a pet water fountain. It provides a constant source of fresh water, and encourages cats to drink. I have one for my cats, and they love it. Don't change litter if he has one he likes. Cats are very picky about litter, and a change in litter can lead to them not using their box.

Great question! I really like Iams, I feed it to my own cats. Be sure to get a kitten formulated food. Other brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, and Purina ProPlan. I hope this helps.

Any food from a name brand source, science diet, Purina, Iams, royal canin, are typically well balanced for cats. There is specific label that says AAFCO.. you do want to make sure this on there as it means it was tested and approved to standards. Each company makes certain formulas and flavors that you can pick from to select the best ingredients you want such as natural balance by science diet

The best is all wet, if you also focus on brushing your cats teeth regularly to prevent dental disease. But if you cannot brush your cats teeth, then consider doing half and half so that you get the best of both: friction of the dry to keep the teeth cleaner and also added water to promote healthy kidneys and bladder.

Hi there, Skye is almost 9 months old, she eats wet and dry food, Purina veterinarian diet Essential care for kitten dry food and cat in the kitchen by Weruva wet food. How much of each food should she have a day to meet the proper daily nutrition?
Each food has a different daily requirement, so I would follow the feeding instructions on the bag of food and can of wet food to see what she should be getting. Purina is a great brand of food, I would definitely keep her on that, and switch her to an adult dry food when she is a year old. Other brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

I personally prefer giving a cat dry food, or a mixture of dry food and wet food. Cats have extremely specific dietary needs, which is very hard to achieve in a homemade diet. For example, cats cannot convert certain animo acids into essential ones they need to be healthy, and they therefore must be present in the diet for the cat to meet the important dietary requirement. There are four brands of food that have a veterinary nutritionist on staff to make sure the recipes for the food meet the cat's nutrition needs, and they are Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I recommend feeding your cat from those brands. If you really want to do to a homemade diet, I will put two websites below that have recipes for homemade balanced diets for cats. As for chicken and ham, chicken is fine as an occasional treat as long as it's boiled white meat chicken with no bones. I do not recommend ham because it's too fatty. I have a cat that is about 2 years old and she seems to be very healthy, however I read that I shouldn't give her dry food at all but instead feed her raw meat. I'm not sure if I should start feeding her that, feed her canned food or keep feeding her
Cat are obligate carnivores and eat to fulfill their protein requirement. Canned food is the best option in my opinion. Raw feeding is difficult to make sure that the diet is balanced with all of the nutrients needed. There is also a human and animal concern about contamination with bacteria when feeding a raw diet. Some cats will resist eating canned food if they have always been on a dry food. So, if you are trying to change, do it slowly. Sometimes, the best that you can do is supplement their dry diet with canned food if they are resistant to change. Cats can make themselves sick if they try to starve themselves. They need protein to move fat out of their liver. So- if she is resistant - make sure that she is eating something. Thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco!

The answer is up to you and your cat. Some cats prefer dry only, some wet only, some enjoy both. Kitten food is still needed at six months of age and will be until he is a year old. Cats are carnivores, and canned, pate-type wet food is the closest to what they would get in the wild. Dry food has to have some carbohydrates in the form of grains or vegetable pulp in order to be made into dry nuggets. Cats have a very low carbohydrate requirement and some gain excess weight on dry food. Feed the best food you can afford. My personal favorites are Science Diet and Royal Canin. Both offer excellent quality, specifically formulated diets that are nutritionally complete for your pet's life stage and condition and both offer money-back guarantees if your pet doesn't like them. Just make sure when switching to a new food to introduce it gradually.
