Should I take my visiting stray cat with bald spots to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

A non-neutered, male, stray cat has started to visit our house most evenings. We feed and play with him, but have to put him out at night time. He doesn’t look as though he is very well cared for. He has two bald patches above his eyes and constantly meows. Should I bring him to the vet, even though he isn’t mine?

Oliver looks very sweet. As long as you are willing to pay for Oliver's care, I think it would be a wonderful idea to have him examined by a veterinarian. He may have ear problems that are causing him to scratch at the area in front of his ears. The veterinarian will also be able to make sure he is otherwise healthy. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and answered your question. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
