What causes my cat to chew plastic bags and then throw them up?

My cat goes after plastic bags and chews on them.sometimes he even swallows some plastic and throws it up later on.I am careful to put all plastic away but what would cause this type of behavior in a cat? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 11 years and 11 months old | 18 lbs

I don't know the exact reason but one of my cats has been doing that for 10 years, i too in the beginning was a little concerned but it's mainly chewing, less ingesting, i think she does that because she just likes the chewing feeling of plastic.
