Why is my cornsnake suddenly inactive and always hiding now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have a 1 year old cornsnake, she eats every week and I keep her water bowl full and clean. She used to be extremely active, but now she tends to stay in one of her hides and won't come out for days, not even at night. She's not in shed and I don't know what's wrong, please let me know what I can do.

Check the temperature in the enclosure. Low temps can affect activity in reptiles. Survey the area around her cage for any negative stimuli. Reduce or eliminate them if possible. Corn snakes are mostly nocturnal, so she may be more active when you are sleeping.
