My lab mix dog ate a pound of raw ground beef. What should I do? He seems fine but I’m worried

He’ll be fine. Many dogs eat raw meat as part of their diet. Do not induce vomiting. He may have a mild stomach ache or diarrhea but probably no problems. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you get answers to your veterinary questions.

It definitely has potential to cause a gastrointestinal infection, or an upset stomach, but dogs tend to handle raw meat better than people. This is because dog's have a lower stomach pH and are adapted to handle infected meat. It's possible that this may cause vomiting and/or diarrhea, but in most cases this is temporary and will resolve within a day or two. Below is a link to an article with great information about vomiting and diarrhea that will help you determine if it is serious or not. https://mobile.petcoach.co/amp/article/diarrhea-vomiting-in-dogs-when-to-call-your-veterinarian I hope that helps and all is well with Winston.
