Why does my dog have a red bald spot close to her tail? She's on Trifexis so I wouldn't think it's fleas or ticks....

Oh ouch! That looks uncomfortable. It is likely something called moist dermatitis which is a bacterial skin infection. It is very uncomfortable and itchy. I would highly encourage you to have Jasmine examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. These lesions tend to spread quickly. She will Likely need antibiotic therapy and possibly some steroids to help with the inflammation. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

Hello. Please do not freak out, this just looks like a small area of irritation, a bit of dermatitis. I would just clean the area gently with an over the counter skin antiseptic like Hibiclens twice a day. If the area seems to be worsening, please see your vet next week, but there is nothing to be overly concerned about at this time. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

It is difficult to tell from just the picture, but this could be a scar. If the skin looks smoothe and shiny, then it is likely a scar. From the picture, the skin doesn't look red, irritated, or infected. If she isn't bothered by it and it isn't inflamed, then I would continue to watch it. If the area of hairloss gets larger, becomes red, or starts to bother her, I would have a vet take a look at her. They may do some diagnostics to ensure there isn't any problem that needs to be treated. I hope this helps!
