My dog has a bleeding lump 4 weeks after neutering. Is this normal?

Unfortunately i cannot see the picture of it, which would be ideal to give you a specific answer, but I can guess that is a small herniation of muscle/subcutaneous tissue coming through surgical incision (which i guess is healed now) or the result of a chronic inflammation (possibly due to licking the area). In both cases a check up would be required to confirm clinical suspicons and treat appropriately.     Hi, it might be just a bit of reaction of inflammation to the inner stitches. If you are worried, have him rechecked. If he seems well in himself I will give him more time. That should be ideally checked by your veterinarian as the problem could be to either a tissue reaction from stitches or incomplete healing and small abdominal herniation. In case of abdominal/humbilical hernia, depending on the size, it should repaired surgically. In case of a reaction, anti-inflammatory meds are required. I would recommend to put the buster collar on to avoid further licking. Hello. That is a lot of bruising, but it just indicates that there was some subsurface capillary bleeding. This can occur in any surgery, but most often is the result of too much activity too soon after surgery. Try to confine Barklie a little more, by keeping him indoors & leash walking only for another week. If he is licking a lot, you may have to put an Elizabethan collar on him for a week or so so everything can heal. You can pick up the collars at most pet stores or even Tractor Supply if one is near you. If you are truly concerned, it is always best to have the veterinarian who did the surgery take a look to make sure everything is OK. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My Wheaton terrier Willie was neutered 9 days ago. He has 2 lumps where his testicles were, is this normal? He also had an antibiotic shot Monday for a slight infection where his incision is.
Hello, and thanks for your question about Willie. It’s normal to have a bit of scrotal swelling in the first few days after the neuter, but 9 days later it would be unusual for this to appear, unless Willie has been more active than he should. If those lumps are small then I recommend keeping him quiet (no off leash play, and short leashes walks) for a few days and monitoring. If the lumps are large, noticeably growing, painful, draining, or bruised then I recommend rechecking with your vet to make sure he doesn’t need to start oral antibiotics or anti inflammatory medication. Hello my dog was neutered last Thursday I’m worried he’s hemorrhaging what should I do
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chulo. Hemorrhaging is a life threatening surgical complication that typically occurs relatively soon after the surgery. The patient becomes weak, pale and very lethargic. If he has any of these signs, then you need to seek emergency care right away. If he is eating, drinking and acting like himself, then it is more likely that he has some post-surgical swelling and bruising of the scrotum. The incision site itself appears to be healing well. I recommend following up with his veterinarian to ensure he does not require additional treatment. For example, some dogs that are too active will require mild sedatives to keep them quiet and allow their body to heal. I hope this information helps!

My dog just got neutered 2 weeks ago. His wound is now healed. I palpated his scrotum today and i felt a ball like mass/cyst on his right scrotum. What could this be? Thanks

My dog has a spot that has a reddish liquid seeping out a little. No pain, non infection. One month post castration. Photo attached. Is this normal? I’ve never Had a dog before.
Poor guy. This actually looks very much like a delayed suture reaction to the sutures that were placed internally during his neuter. This isn't very common but we do get a few cases like this. Because of the seepage, I would suggest taking Blue to your vet to get him on some medication to help calm the inflammation and also antibiotics will likely be recommended b/c most of these do get a mild infection at the site. Until you can get him seen by your vet, you can clean the area with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to help reduce the bacteria there and also help calm down some of the inflammation. I would also make sure he is not licking the area and making it worse. To do this you will need to purchase an e-collar (cone) from your local pet store. My 1 year old lab mix with pit. Grew this thing on his testicles I’m not sure what it is but it wasn’t there earlier I took a photo. He is also nudered not sure if it has something to do with that.
I'm wondering if your dog was neutered recently - it almost looks like there could be a scrotal incision and discharge in the center of the photo. Either way, the raised area looks like it could be a growth, tumor or abscess/infection and if he was not neutered recently the discharge is concerning. I would definitely recommend having your vet take a look.

My 1yr pup was neutered 11 days ago. On the 9th day post-op I let him run off leash and soon noticed soft swelling around his penis and a firm lump in his groin. On day 10 I took him back to the vet to get him checked and they didn't seem concerned.
It could be a hernia, but it is unlikely related to the surgery since we don't handle that area during a routine neuter. I would recommend having the vet check it again if it doesn't improve after the NSAIDs, or sooner if Roman seems painful or stops eating and drinking.

I adopted a dog yesterday and at the shelter they said he was neutered at the aspca. His neutered area had been swollen. They told me he was neutered around the 8th of august and that he was pretty much headed. Today he was licking the wound and it s
It is common for that area to swell after the neuter, but it should be almost healed after 10 days. If it's starting to bleed, then the wound must not have healed properly. The pimple-like thing may be a piece of suture or possibly some tissue from inside the incision site. The shelters are usually really good at making sure everything is OK before they are adopted and usually offer for free veterinary consultation a couple of weeks after adoption. I would call and ask for an appointment with the vet. It's possible that the wound may need to be sutured closed again or he needs some further treatment. For now, you can just keep the wound clean by flushing with warm water for five minutes twice a day. This will help keep it from getting infected. I hope that helps and Qausar gets better soon. My dog has been castrated few days ago and now i found a swollen part on his stomach next to his penis. Is that nkrmal?
Hello, it is difficult to know exactly what the swollen area next to his penis could be without seeing it, and whether it is related to his castration or not. The swelling could be due to inflammation from his recent surgery, or something scarier like an infection or hematoma (pocket of blood). I would be concerned if the swelling is discolored, hot to the touch, or painful to the touch. In these cases, I would recommend having Arnold evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as you can. Alternatively, if the swelling is present on both sides of his penis, you may be appreciating his bulbourethral glands, which are accessory sex organs located on either side of the base of the penis.
