My puppy had diarrhea, now no poop for over a day. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 11 days old | 35 lbs

My puppy had really bad diarrhea for a day and now he hasn't pooped at all in over 30 hours. Is that odd? Or normal after servere diarrhea? He doesn't have A fever and he's eating and drinking well. The vet put him on panacur. She said that was the cause of the diarrhea. Could that constipate him? Thank you

It is actually normal for them to have this pause in the regular bowel movement cycle after a bad case of diarrhea. With bad diarrhea they tend to empty their bowels and when it abruptly gets better it can take a couple of days before the gut is functioning regularly again. From what you described, it looks like the treatment is working well and he is likely on the mend. I hope that helps and all is well with Blitz.
