My cat won't eat his food, only gravy, but still acts playful. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 years and 2 months old | 12 lbs

My cat will not eat his wet food only the gravy, He also wont eat his dry food. He still plays and runs with his laser light, chews and plays on dangle string, purrs and still rubs up against me.

Try feeding Dante Fancy Feast or any other good canned food that is prepared "PATE style". Most cats will eat that. Unfortunately most cast will actually just lick the gravy off the other styles. You can also warm up the pate style food to make it more aromatic. I also suggest you take Dante to your vet for an exam. He may have problems with his teeth and eating might hurt.
