My Jack Russell has a painless lump on her rib cage. What could it be?

My jack Russell seems to have a swelling over her left hand rib cage it's not hurting her and she seems for and running well. Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 7 years and 11 months old | 18 lbs

Swelling under the skin in dogs can be due to a variety of reasons, including soft tissue injury, a growth, or a cyst or abscess, among others. If this is a new development for her, I would recommend it be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine what it may be, and if anything needs to be done for it. Good luck!
