I cutted my chihuahuas nail too short. he bled a fair bit but it has stopped. he is a squirmy one and at the last second moved and i caught him. im sending my fiance to get some bandages but could i put kid safe polysporin on it? i want to know how i can clean it before i bandage it up. its snowing and muddy out so i just want that extra layer of protection as his nails grow fairly slow compared to my female

You can put some polysporin on it as long as Jackson does not lick it off. Many human ointments contain ingredients that are not safe for dogs to ingest. Keep the bandage clean and dry, change it when it gets dirty. Monitor for signs of infection which include redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, and pus. If you see any of those, take him into the vet for treatment. I hope this helps.
