My cockatiel keeps throwing up violently after eating. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Male | unneutered

My cockatiel ‘regurgitated’, I assume. It has happened at least 4 times within the last 30 minutes. The thing is, he does it very violently up and down. It is very quick, then he licks (I guess?) the inside of his beak and goes back to eating. (He is only doing it when he eats). My best guess is he’s eating too much or too fast? Or does it just sound like normal regurgitation? Here is a picture of the stuff that he spat out.

Thanks for reaching out about Loki and including a photo. Repeated regurgitation is concerning. Ingested foreign bodies or toxic causes are common. If it persists, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.
