Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Female | spayed | 5 years and 10 months old | 59.3 lbs
My Basset was sleeping on the bed when she suddenly woke up and looked very disorientated. I tried to get to her, but she jumped off the bed, fell and couldn't get up immediately. She was very unsteady and swaying when I finally got her up. Her heart was beating extremely fast. She stood swaying for about a minute before her heart rate calmed and she could walk properly again. It scared me to death! What could be wrong?

I would have her checked out by her veterinarian. I know that now she is feeling better but making sure she doesn't have anything more going on with her and making sure it wasn't a seizure. I would recommend blood work be performed and a full physical examination. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
