My dog's bone grew over a surgical pin. Is it safe to leave it?

So my dog broke her leg and had to have a pin put in they went to take it out and said the bone grew over it so they left it in is that ok? Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 26 days old | 20 lbs

If the pin is not causing her any pain or side effects (such as an infection) and is not interfering with a growth plate, then it should be fine to leave it in place.
