My pregnant dog has inverted nipples. Can her puppies nurse?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 70 lbs

I'm fostering a pregnant dog for 1-2 months, she is due at the end of march as far as I know. I just got her today and I did notice she has some inverted nipples, i wanted to make sure if she did have her liter here that they all would be able to eat.

Pregnancy lasts 63 days in dogs, so I’m not sure who told you she’s due at the end of March, but she wouldn’t be pregnant yet if that’s the case. Generally they will be able to nurse without issue. Thanks for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
