Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old
Hi my Syrian hamster has been sleeping and drinking a lot more than usual and he has been doing this for the past 3 weeks. I thought the reason for this was because of a small cage and got him a bigger one but he still sleeps throughout the night and I haven't heard him running on his wheel for almost a month now. He is 1 1/2 years old. Is he ok?

Hello, I'm sorry to hear that KitKat hasn't been acting like himself recently. Anytime an animal has a change in appetite or thirst and is acting lethargic, I recommend a physical exam from a veterinarian. Increased thirst may be a sign of an endocrine disorder, kidney disease, or a reproductive tract disease. Lethargy and inactivity is often a sign of pain and feeling ill. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
