My dog has a hard spot under her skin near her ribs. What is it?

What could cause for her to feel hard under this area of her skin? It’s like the area under where her ribs end. It feels hard to touch. It’s not her whole stomach area just that spot. The other side does not feel that way, it’s soft. She goes in for her dental in the morning so I’ll be sure to bring it up. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 11 months old | 4 lbs

I have had patients with abnormally shaped ribs where you can feel a protrusion on one side, but not the other. She could also have a mass under her skin.
