My new cat is very thin, eats constantly, but has no bowel movements.

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | neutered | 7.5 lbs

I just acquired a male cat from a household of three cats and a dog with 3 kids. He just doesn’t seem like a very happy cat and was told this lady that had him found him way out somewhere. It had a chip so evidently this lady never took it in to get it checked, I took it into the vet and they gave him blood work and etc. but he is so terribly thin like anorexic and weighs 7.5 pounds. Everything checked out fine but the low weight. He eats constantly and I haven’t seen him have a bowel movement.

Congratulations on bringing Oscar into your family. If he was coming from a rough situation, his thinness may be related to poor diet or not enough food. Make sure to feed him a high quality and easy to digest food. I recommend Royal Canin as it seems to be very easy on their digestive system. Make sure he was dewormed at the veterinarians as parasites will make them thin and can spread to other pets (and sometimes people). Thats good that his bloodwork looked normal. Check to see if they checked a thyroid level. Cats who have hyperthyroidism will often be thin despite eating well. This condition is common in cats and is usually fairly easy to manage. If he is eating, he will have bowel movements. It will eventually work it's way through him. It could be related to a prior improper diet or a lack of food. I hope this helps to point you in the right direction. Please feel free to post any further questions!
