Why is my 10-year-old dog urinating blood and whining in pain?

My dog has been urinating blood during the past couple of days. He’s 10 years old, happy and playful, no changes in behavior. His eating habits are normal, he asks to be pet, everything a normal dog does, except he would occasionally whine as though he’s in pain. Could it be just a cold or something more severe? Also, I forgot to mention that the blood was bright red at First, but now it’s more pale and brown-ish. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 6 months old | 13.23 lbs
