My cat is foaming, shaking, and peeing himself. Is he having seizures?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Oriental Shorthair | Male | neutered | 4 years and 6 months old | 10 lbs

My cat has been randomly foaming at the mouth and such. It’s like he’s vomiting, but it’s just foam and spit. He sometimes will be shaking and it’ll be hard for him to breath. It has been happening for the past few weeks mostly at night but during the day too. He even peed himself on several occasions. It’s like he’s having a seizure or something but I’m not sure. Afterwards he always starts crying. He is an orange male tabby, about 4 years. He has a normal weight I’m not sure the exact.

Hi, Sorry to hear about Jack, the episodes you describing with hypersalivation (increased salivation), shaking and urinating on himself which are happening more during the night can be seizures. I would strongly recommend to have him checked by a vet sooner than later as a frequency of few episodes in a few weeks is high and needs to be managed asap. It is always very helpful in diagnosis to have a video of the episode to show the vet so if you can do that in case another episode occurs before the vet appointment. Hope he will feel better soon.
