Can I wait for the vet if my dog's nose was scratched by a cat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

My dog was lightly scratched on his nose by a stray cat. I cleaned it with dawn and water and put triple antibiotic ointment on it. It was barely bleeding and he has his upcoming vet appointment in 6 days. Will he be ok until then?

Hi, From what described above as superficial scratch and no active bleeding, which was cleaned and locally treated with antibiotic it possible it can wait for a few days. But if any if these signs present: bleeding, bothering him and he start scratching/ licking, redness, foul smell or discharge please take him to the vet earlier. In the meantime keep the area clean and you can continue with the antibiotic ointment under supervision to make sure he is not licking it due to the location which makes it easy for the dog to lick. Hope this help.
