My puppy died from parvo. How to prevent it & what to do with remains?

If you had a puppy die from parvo what do you as as preventing another puppy from getting it in the future ? and also what should I do with his remains? Thanks Jimmy

Hi Jimmy. I'm very sorry your puppy died of parvo. You can contact a local vet clinic and arrange from them to cremate his remains. You will need to throw away all his toys and bedding, and completely disinfect the house. Parvo can live for months in the environment. There are vaccines to prevent a puppy from getting parvo, but it takes three series of the vaccine each given four weeks apart for the puppy to be fully protected. I would not get another young and unvaccinated puppy; rather, get an older puppy (like six months of age) who is already fully vaccinated. That puppy would be safe in your home. Best of luck.
