Dear Dr. I have male mal-shi age 3 months with good overall health. I have noticed what looks like a bald patch with crusty scab-like covering. and after a visit to the vet clinic, they assured me everything was just fine!. It's been approximately three months since the visit and I didn't notice an improvement. should I be concerned about his condition?

Since Tobby has had this lesion for 4 months, I think it’s worthwhile to have him seen again. The doctor may recommend a diagnostic called a skin scraping to check for any mites in the skin which require treatment. The doctor may also recommend a medicated shampoo and perhaps a diet change. There is a good diet called Royal Canin and it is very good for dogs with dry skin or skin problems. Changing him to this diet may help as well. You can also add an omega 3 fatty acid supplement to the diet as it is good for the skin. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any further questions.
