How to give medicine to cats that scratch and foam? Do both need it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed

My family adopted two 10 month old cats yesterday we were warned that one of them was having loose bowel movements but the other was fine and we had to give medicine to both of them just in case. When we gave them the medicine though they started scratching us and foaming at the mouth despite having settled in extremely quickly before. Is there anything I can do to help them take the medicine and do we have to give it to both of them or just the one that's ill?

Hi. So sorry its tough to give those medications. I would still treat both. There are a couple options. You could put the medicine on wet food, but you have to make sure they eat it all and all at once. You could ask your veterinarian if they could tey a pill form. Or you could ask them to compound it in to a.flavored medication ( tuna, chicken, etc). Good luck
