Why is my hamster losing fur, weight, and has a black skin spot?

My hamster is losing her fur on her shoulders and she's losing weight, she doesn't seem to be eating or drinking as much and where she lost fur has a black mark (may be a birth mark I've never seen her without fur). Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 2 days old | 0.5 lbs

Thanks for reaching out about Yoshi. The dermal lesions could be parasitic (mites), an infection (bacterial or fungal), or a contact allergy, among other things. A veterinary visit is recommended for a diagnosis and to prescribe a treatment. The black area could be a normal area where brown fat is stored for periods of hibernation. Good luck.
