Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Male | 13 years old | 15 lbs

I just acuaired a 12 year male cat previous owner has send he was taken to a vet in October and got a clean bill of health but I have no record don’t know if he is chipped, what shots he’s had or if he has been fixed. Do I need to take him to a vet to start from scratch, I got him from a women who no longer could take care of him and she lived in a senior care facility.

I would recommend starting from scratch if you're unsure of his vaccine status. They can check him for a chip. If there's a chance of figuring out who the previous vet was, they will be able to send records to your new vet.
