Unvaccinated stray cat sick, not eating, yellow eyes. What vet tests are vital?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 11 lbs

A stray female cat I was taking care of is staying at the vet clinic and getting IV. We don't know her age but younger than 8 probably. She's unvaccinated. Her symptoms: not eating for 4 days now, licks lips, barely drinks water, watery eyes, swollen tonsilis, 40 C fever. She's still affectionate. Her hemoglobin is a bit high. The vet saw some yellowness in her blood with her eyes but needs more tests. I can't afford all the tests to check liver, kidney, etc What test I should prioritize?

Hima needs blood work to check her liver if her serum was yellow or if her eyes are yellow. Typically the blood work covers all the liver/kidneys/etc. I would talk to your veterinarian about what they feel is the most important test.
