Dry spots on Cola could be due to many causes including: infection, parasites (mites/fleas), ringworm (which humans can get), low thyroid function or allergies. At home you can add an omega 3 fattty acid to his food and you may even switch the diet to something like Royal Canin which is aimed at improving skin quality. This may help. You can wash him in an oatmeal type shampoo and conditioner. Lastly, treat him for fleas with a good flea product like Simparica. If the spots do not go away within a month, if they worsen or if you get similar lesions, he needs to see a veterinarian. You may also choose to take him in to try to figure it out faster. I hope this helps and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
