Help! My hamster has rashes and bugs in his cage. What's wrong?

Question

So i have a syrian hamster, turning 2 next month. in 23 nov 2018 i let a friend take care of him since i was overseas. Then at 29 dec she told me he was starting to have rashes on his face and back. After taking him back on the 2nd dec i cleaned his cage and realised there were bugs that looked like small cockroaches in a cube toy made of popsicle sticks. So now im wondering if theres anything i can do to help him from it and whats the problem. Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Male | 1 year and 10 months old

Thanks for reaching out about Cheese and including photos. The facial lesions appear infected, so even if caused by parasites, antibiotics are probably recommended. A veterinary visit is needed to prescribe the proper antibiotic and dose. Good luck.
