Ariel has a lot of bad dreams, she starts shaking and whimpering, so I wake her up. A few times her dream got so bad she was growling, and I was afraid to do anything because I thought she would bite me. Whenever she is lying down and you move or touch her, she will growl, whether she is sleeping or not. I puppy sat her when she was 9 weeks, and her owner was homeless and gave her to me when she was 11 months. She has always acted like that since she was given to us. why and how can I help her?

I wouldn’t be too concerned about bad dreams and growling or whimpering while asleep as long as Ariel does not actually bite when she wakes up. It is also pretty common for dogs to voice their opinion with a growl or moan when you are physically moving them but if it progresses to snapping that’s when I would be worried.
